The 169 Cannon is the one you sell to people who get rained on. Water-resistant construction means it sheds instead of soaking, and — the part that actually matters — it holds its shape after getting wet. A cotton cap that gets caught out comes back misshapen. This one doesn't.
It's built differently from every other seven-panel in the line. There's no mesh back panel: airflow comes from laser perforations punched through the fabric itself, so the cap reads as a clean solid shell from every angle while still breathing. That's also why the shape survives weather — there's no soft mesh to collapse.
The shell is stretch performance polyester, 98% polyester with 2% spandex, so it moves rather than binds. The sweatband is Richardson's Stay-Dri, which wicks instead of holding sweat against your forehead. Hi Pro crown, flat bill, snapback closure, one size fits most.
Named for Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast, which tells you the intended environment. Charter and guide operations, marine dealers, coastal retail, golf, anyone outfitting crews who work outside in real weather.
A rubber patch is the natural pairing here — it's waterproof, it survives the same conditions the cap is built for, and the raised finish suits the performance look. Embroidery, woven labels, and transfers all work as well.
One thing to plan around: leather is not the right call on this cap. Leather and water resistance work against each other — leather stains, stiffens, and curls when it gets soaked, which defeats the reason someone bought a weatherproof cap. Route leather-patch programs to the 168 or 112 instead.
